Solar Panels

Plans for a seven-acre (three-hectare) solar farm have been unveiled.

The scheme at Lower Russell’s Farm at Allington Lane, West End, near Southampton, is expected to consist of about 3,800 solar panels.

Eastleigh Borough Council, which is behind the plans, said it would generate about a megawatt of electricity per year – enough to power the equivalent of about 270 homes.

A planning application for the proposals is yet to be submitted.

Residents have been invited to comment on the plans at a series of exhibitions at Itchen Valley Country Park’s Highwood Barn, which run until Saturday.
